M:11 Video Review

1.The two videos i choose were Matisse and Picasso and In the shadow of Hitler: German Art post World War I to the present. i Chose these two videos because the name Picasso sounded familiar and Hitler.

Matisse and Picasso

• Matisse portrait of his wife was getting laughed at by people except an american group so they brought it and decided he should meet Picasso

• Picasso was a born painter, his father who was a painter and drawing teacher encouraged his talent

• Matisse was silent, stubborn and unaware of his talent for 21 years of life

• Picasso was impulsive with his thoughts in his painting, immerse himself completely in it

In the shadow of Hitler: German Art post World War I to the present

• Hitler ideas came from Austria 

• Hitler was obsessed with sculptures, architecture and paintings

• The Nazi movement came from the hatred of modern art

• Two decades after the war Germany dedicated to purging, rebuilding and forgetting

2. The videos are more visual for us to understand and the readings are descriptive with few pictures to give ideas but usually you have to create the pictures in your mind yourself

3. the films help me understand more f what the artist go through while going through the process of creating a portrait, the good and the bad.
