M:11 Art Gallery Visit

3.This is the museum i visited a lot while in high school that is why i chose this

The Gallery
1. The type of light that was used was from the big windows that brought daylight in and small lights attack to the ceiling
2.The colors used on the wall depended on the theme but when i visited it was usually off white/cream
3.Some are pieces had its own stage and some art piece contained in glass, big windows for daylight to shine on artwork
4. Every turn you make there was something in your view but it was a lot of space

The Artwork

1. they were organized by category
2. The similarity was two had something to do with religion
3.They were different because one was a oil canvas and the other two were sculptures
4.The work was framed by the painting being hung up and the sculptures had its own stand
5.The work was identified by title and artist
6.The work was all most toughing

1.The Death of Socrates 1787 by Jacques Louise David, Oil canvas
Socrates have been accused of denying the Gods and corrupting the young, he had the choice to renouncing his beliefs or drinking a cup of hemlock. this painting is socrates about to drink the hemlock surrounded by his grief stricken disciples

2.The Temple of Dendur, completed by 10 B.C., Aeolian Sandstone
It is from West Bank of Nile River, 50 miles south of Aswon. It was given to the U.S by Egypt in 1965, then pass on to The MET in 1976.

3. Mihrab (Prayer Niche)
A.H. 755/A.D. 1354-55
 This piece is made out of glass tiles, it is Prophet Mohammed script written in Arabic

what i thought of the visit was it wasnt really bad that i didnt physically go because i went a lot in high school and it was very annoying and boring, i didnt mind looking at it in a different perspective because it is good to be open minded to new things or ways. religion is a theme i am use to looking at when i go to the MET.
